According to The Royal Academy of the Spanish Language, REINA ; Can be the wife of the king (queen consort); a woman who exercises royal power in her own right (reigning queen); or a person of excellence among her class. an age where history is rewritten in the blink of an eye and quicker than a double espresso, it\u2019s worth slowing down, taking a breath, and looking back with respect.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

This project seeks to illuminate the lives of Spain\u2019s queens: those born on Iberian soil, and those who, though foreign by birth, embraced Spain as their calling – by spirit, by duty, and by destiny. From medieval court intrigues to the complexities of the 21st century, these women – often footnotes in school curricula – have shaped the course of a nation. They were leaders, tacticians, cultural patrons, mothers, diplomats, and at times, political martyrs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a human centred narrative, not a roll call of crowns or bloodlines, but a deeper exploration of character, conviction, and the quiet power of those women who stand out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To understand who these women were – what drove them, what sustained them, and above all, what made them figures worthy of study and admiration – is to reclaim a vital part of our shared story. Through their biographies, we aim to reposition them not as  historical footnotes, but as central characters in chapters that still resonate in our collective identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learning history through the lens of these queens is, in many ways, learning about ourselves; their choices in moments of crisis, their quiet resolve, their gestures of strength. In rediscovering them, we deepen our own understanding of resilience, leadership, and legacy. History, when fully explored, not only informs; it forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
